We are back. After last seasons highly successful season for the North and its Counties at U20 Level we go again with our Counties assembling their Squads for the forthcoming Jason Leonard U20 County Championship.
Sadly Cumbria failed to get their U20s resurrected this season but the signs are they may well do so in the very near future, we hope so as it can only add to the strength of the Division.
Division 1 this season has reigning National U20 County Champions Yorkshire joined by Cheshire and the oldest of rivals in Lancashire who secured the National U20 Shield last season for a North clean sweep.
Division 2 sees Durham and Northumberland go head to head along with Staffordshire.
Fixtures will be posted on here shortly.
Last seasons England Counties U20s had a fantastic tour winning both Test Matches in Georgia and the squad including 11 North U20s. We are quite sure that are target this years is to improve on that number if we can.
The coaching team remains with Dave Reed (Northumberland) and Matt Bebbington (Cheshire) running the show ably assisted by Martin Webdale (Yorkshire). Team Manager is once again Howard Hughes (Lancashire) with Sports Rehab from Dr. Allan Munro (Lancashire) and we welcome a new Chair of Selectors with Mark Binns (Durham) new to the role as Chair but bags of experience as a selector.
This season once again the England Counties U20 Divisional weekend will take place at Derby RFC from where the Squad will be selected to tour and play two Test Matches in Romania.
